I started at Calabar in September, 1978. She Georgraphy in Grades 7 and 8 and English Language and Literature in Grade 9. My classmates and I knew her then as Miss Keene. A young teacher who taught us well and challenged us to be good degnified young men. When we were in Grade nine, she announced her marriage. From then on we knew her as Mrs Gordon. It is wonderful to hear that she was very dedicated to education at Calabar High School having been there for over thirty years and having the highly responsible role of being a Principal. I have good memories of this very dignified Christian Lady who gave her all to education in Jamaica. May she rest in peace I have just learnt the news of the passing of Dr Gordon which has saddened me.

After all she would be at least employed at the school during my time and having left so long ago I figured all the stalwarts like the Tollough-Rieds , Robinsons , Coores , Barnetts, Orr had left long ago . Then I did a google image search and the face came back to me . I remember her as a petite young modestly dressed professional just starting out when I was in fourth form . Ms Gordon was sitting in for an absent teacher in one of my 4S2 classes and I recall we were all a bit nervous about an upcoming exam next period and she advised us to say a little prayer , trust in the Lord and you will be alright on leaving . I remember this exuded a bit of calm among the students and we were able to move on more confidently to take the test. This sense of calm and reassurance seemed to have been her legacy on the Calabar community and we should thank the Lord for allowing this servant to have a positive affects on our lves . She was to me, personally,and to the entire family, collectively, as precious as the morning dew. Her passing has undoubtedly left a very deep void in our family structure and certainly within the deep crevices of my heart. In private, Jennifer was everything that she portrayed in public. She was kind, thoughtful, serene, fun loving and fair. She knew how to turn tears into laughter and channel negative thoughts and emotions into a quest for the lessons behind every trying circumstance. Jennifer was no doubt a leader. But first and foremost, she exemplified the expectations, that all great leaders must indeed serve those whom they wish to lead. Calabar has lost another hero. The Most Honourable Dr. J Gordon, is the most powerful Prophetess ever lived. The Lord has called her to rest & prepare her gown for His glorious appearing. Its still hard to accept the fact that the Lord gave this order so soon. I am still unable to accept the fact that she has departed from this earth. Dr. Gordon has been a mentor, a mother, a counsellor, a friend, and the most humble woman i have ever met. Her humilty has ministered to my life & contributed greatly to my development as a young steward in Christ, although i was not a registered student of Calabar. While i was Regional President of ISCF Regionals --Overseeing schools in Kingston & St. Andrew (August 2005 to August 2006), i had the opportunity to visit & worship along with the Calabar ISCF group, and i must admit that it was the best experience that i had. Dr. Gordon would make me feel so comfortable, that sometimes some teachers would mistake me for one of their students. I didnt feel like a stranger or an alien, but i felt like i was at home. I can recall the ISCF Concerts, and i would work alongside with Dr. Gordon & Mr. McKenzie to ensure smooth operation of the evenings' activities. I can recall the many evenings i would sit her office & listen to her smooth voice as we would share revelations that the Lord would impart upon us. There are many lives she has impacted, no doubt about that. Dr. Gordon is so loving, caring, concerned, compassionate, warm, and always hopes for the best in the lives of young men that attend Calabar on a Daily basis. Today it gives me great pleasure to Salute the Most Honourable, & Most Virtuous Prophetess ever lived! To The Most Excellent, Most Honourable, Reverend, Prophetess Dr. J Gordon, i salute you.
