Herb McKenley – A year since the passing of a Great Jamaican

It’s been a year since the passing of Herbert Henry McKenley, one of the greatest athletes ever born. A year ago this son of Jamaica and the Calabar High School family passed on at the age of 85 and the Calabarlions.com team would like to contribute to keeping the memory of such a great man fresh in the minds of all men and women whether you had gotten the opportunity to meet or be in the presence of Mr McKenley or not.

IT IS TIME FOR US C’BAR MEN TO GET TOGETHER AND SAVE THIS SCHOOL . ON VISITING THE SCHOOL RECENTLY I HAVE OBVSERVED THAT THE INFRASTRUCTURE BASICALLY MASH UP . THE STUDENTS NEED MENTORING TO HELP CURB THE INDISCIPLINE . LETS STOP JUMPING ON THE C’BAR BANDWAGON DURING CHAMPS TIME AND STEP UP TO THE PLATE WITH SOME IDEAS TO SAVE OUR ONCE PROUD SCHOOL. HERB WOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD

Now in looking at the achievement of the Jamaicans on the track and with all the speculations regarding how we got to be the best. I look at the selfless dedication of the coaches and the work , inspiration and motivation of many including the great Herbert McKenely.
Calabar knew you first as a son them father but Jamaica knew you as all of the above as well as one of the driving force behind track and field development in Jamaica.
Thank you Herb for your inspiration , dreams and dedication that extended beyound “Red Hills Road the black and green community”.
May your soul rest in peace and we the Jamaican people will continue to be motivated by your honesty, hardwork and dedication.

Thank you for contribution to nation building.

I wanna thank God for the opportunity he gave me to be a part of the historical Calabar High School. When i heard of the death of the legenary Herb Mckenly, who had once been my mentor and a successful coach, not only to myself who knows Herb. To day many are weeping in our nation, due to the fact that we lost a world leader. not only in Jamaica, but through-out the entire world.
My encouragement to my Calabar brothers lets keep hope alive by contuning the dream and legecy of Herb. Remember to support our school by giving the best to those who are in need.
